Sairia o povo à rua num dia assim?
"O governo mandou fechar as escolas, o Presidente delarou o estado de emergência, o porto foi encerrado, as autoestradas de acesso à capital bloquedas e todos os aviões desviados do aeroporto."
O comércio fecha portas apressadamente; a rádio apela à calma dos populares; a televisão é tomada e suspende a emissão; aos médicos acorrem aos hospitais; os tanques marcham sobre a baixa de Kuala Lumpur e o povo vai entre eles. O povo saiu à rua. Gritam-se palavras de ordem, chama-se pela liberdade.
E são já cravos que se vêm nas mão das crianças, nos canos das espigandas, nas lapelas dos jovens executivos, presos às boinas dos militares, pendurados nas varandas.
É o 25 de Abril na Malásia, é a revolução para a democracia, o fim da actual ditadura.
Mas as sirenes tocam... As sirenes tocam... As sirenes tocam... As sirenes continuam a tocar... Não param de tocar as sirenes... As sirenes que tocam cada vez mais alto... As sirenes que tocam... As sirenes...
- Mas estão a tocar para quê, porra?
- Não são as sirenes, burro. É a merda do telefone que está a tocar: a tua bela chefe a dizer que já são sete e meia e ainda não estás no trabalho! E desliga a porcaria do rádio que deixaste ligado ontem à noite, e que desde há uma hora não deixa de falar no estado de emergência decretado pelo governo por causa da fumarada.
E é de saudade abrilista de filho da madrugada que me cuspo quarto de hotel afora, para enfrentar uma caminhada por entre o fumo até ao antro imperialista que me dá de comer. Sairia o povo à rua num dia assim?

Por aqui se vê que o Sócrates fez bem em permanecer no Quénia.Se até as multinacionais avançam por entre ventos e fagulhas porque é que o nosso primeiro havia de interromper as férias? E por cá nem foi preciso decretar o estado de calamidade, quanto mais o de emergência nacional...
